Are you a mission-driven, strategic servant leader? Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity is seeking our next Executive Director to lead and grow our impact across the Fargo–Moorhead region.

About Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity

Founded in 1991, Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization serving Cass County, ND and Clay County, MN. We partner with families, volunteers, and community supporters to build and rehabilitate homes that are sold through affordable, income-based mortgages.

To date, we’ve partnered with more than 90 families—helping create safe, stable housing and stronger communities. Our work is supported by generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and proceeds from the Habitat ReStore.

About the Executive Director Role

As Executive Director, you will lead the organization’s strategic vision and daily operations while advancing our mission to expand access to affordable homeownership. This role is responsible for organizational leadership, fundraising, financial oversight, and community engagement.

You’ll work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and community partners to build on a strong foundation while identifying opportunities for growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to grow impact

  • Team Leadership: Build, support, and retain a high-performing and mission-driven team

  • Fundraising & Development: Strengthen relationships with donors, sponsors, and public funders to increase revenue

  • Community Engagement: Serve as a visible ambassador for Habitat, growing awareness and partnerships

  • Financial & Operational Oversight: Ensure strong financial health, transparency, and efficient operations, including ReStore performance

  • Board Partnership: Engage and support a strong, effective Board of Directors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field

  • 5+ years of nonprofit leadership experience preferred

  • Experience in residential construction or housing is a plus

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
